Meet the Founder of TeamSupport
{Robert Johnson:} I’m Robert Johnson, founder and former CEO of TeamSupport. We built a SaaS platform designed specifically for B2B technology companies that need stronger, more collaborative customer support. After years of growth, TeamSupport received investment from Level Equity, a private equity firm based in New York.
What a Failed Process Taught Me
{Robert Johnson:} I’d been through this before. Years earlier, I tried to sell a company without a banker. I thought I could do it myself. We got deep into the process, and then the deal collapsed. That experience taught me a lot. So, when it came time to sell TeamSupport, I knew I needed a real partner. That’s when I found SEG.
Being Told "Not Yet"
{Robert Johnson:} I discovered SEG through their content. It was thoughtful, insightful and it felt like they understood what founders go through. When I first reached out, they told me the truth: “You’re not ready.” There was no hard sales pitch and no pressure. Just honest advice. We stayed in touch, kept building, and when we reached the right stage, we hired SEG. That early integrity is why I trusted them.
The Sale Process is Brutal
{Robert Johnson:} Selling your company while running it is like having two full-time jobs. You can’t afford to drop the ball on either. SEG helped me juggle both. They managed the process, kept things moving, and prospective buyers engaged, which let me stay focused on leading the business. That balance, and their guidance, made all the difference.
The Turning Point in My Process
{Robert Johnson:} As a CEO, I know how to market our product. However, marketing a company for an exit is a different challenge. SEG built the narrative, the materials, the CIM and told our story in a way that made buyers lean in and compete. They saw value where we hadn’t, and that changed everything.
A Realistic Valuation That We Exceeded
{Robert Johnson:} SEG guided us to a valuation they believed was realistic and I thought was more than fair, and then we beat it. They helped us prepare for every conversation, coached me on what to say and what not to say. I walked away with zero regrets and real respect for the team that got me there.
