M&A Experience
Daniel brings a wealth of buy-side M&A experience within the software industry, having developed the strategy and managed the deals for more than 30 strategic acquisitions and integrations during his decade-long tenure for one of the most acquisitive SaaS buyers, RealPage. These acquisitions added to RealPage’s ecosystem of products, including solutions for marketing, screening, insurance, payments, operations, ERP, maintenance, accounting, revenue management, and BPO.
During this time, he realized many founders had never been through the sale process before and needed an advocate to guide them, especially during unbanked deals. He experienced several situations where issues such as inaccurate financial reporting or incorrect tax calculations nearly derailed a deal.
Now that he leads M&A deals representing sellers, his experiences have helped him to better relate to founders and anticipate many of the concerns they have while also preparing them for likely scenarios.
Career Highlights
Daniel handled corporate banking and financial analysis for several companies before his 10-year career at RealPage, including Zale, Raising Cane’s and All Smiles Dental Centers. During his time at RealPage, he worked as a financial analyst, senior M&A manager and senior product manager before becoming vice president of corporate development.
While managing acquisitions for RealPage, he managed the acquisitions of four companies to create an entirely new software offering in a new vertical. He worked with the SEG team on numerous deals and was impressed by the way they represented software founders, from preparing comprehensive CIMs that told a compelling story of the company to their expertise in the real estate industry and other verticals.
At SEG, he helped LevelData achieve an investment from BV Investment Partners. Daniel and the SEG team worked hard to understand how complex business relationships could impact future revenue and highlight the company’s greatest strengths.
He also consulted on several deals, including:
- The acquisition of SightPlan by SmartRent for $135 million
- An investment for BuildingLink from Bregal Sagemount, allowing the provider of cloud-based operations and resident engagement software to accelerate customer growth in its core and adjacent markets
