3Q17 SaaS M&A Product Categories and Verticals

Our 3Q17 Saas M&A Snapshot is an evaluation of quarter’s most interesting trends, including leading product category transaction activity and valuations, and notable private equity activity.

SaaS M&A Product Category and Vertical Highlights:

  • Once again, CRM & Marketing accounted for the highest number of SaaS transactions 3Q17. With 49 transactions, this category was double the second highest category, Analytics & Business Intelligence, which posted 21 transactions.
  • The majority of SaaS companies acquired in 2Q17 were horizontally focused, while only 25% acquired had a vertical market focus.
  • Top vertical categories by deal volume include Education, representing 18% of total vertical deals, Real Estate and Financial Services, each representing 10% of total vertical deals.
